What Exactly Is Psoriasis?

Barely perceptible at first, the rash appears first on the knees, elbows, or hair on the side of the skull by small reddish scales. Then it turned in large patches covered with silvery scales. Later in the eruption process develops on the surface of the skin of others, turning your body into an image cube and your life into a nightmare. Most people have no idea that psoriasis is not contagious and it cannot help but be feared and disgusted when they encounter a sick person. Throughout history, there were no cases of the disease being transferred from one person to another, even when they come into contact with infected blood. However, even in the richest countries in the world, there are about 4% of people registered as suffering from this disease.

What do we know about this? There are researches on the disease that it is caused by certain types of neuroses and stress, but many agree that this disease is still a mystery to doctors. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for this disease. But in studying the many forms and types of psoriasis, doctors are unable to develop a treatment that ensures a sustained remission of the disease. They can also provide a dramatic death until complete resolution of symptoms for many years.

60% of patients have relatives who have suffered or still suffer from this terrible disease. There is only one chromosome responsible. But if someone, back several hundred years of his family tree, and if it could be shown that none of his family are still suffering from psoriasis, it does not matter much. Because the chromosome disease can be suspended for years, parents and children infected to live a long life without a place in their body. However, in some cases may be looked into, as if, and for example – the majority of patients between 15 and 25 years. This is because of the hormonal changes your body goes through during puberty, and increasing mental instability.

ACCESS TO FREE MEDICINE: NATIONAL PSORIASIS AWARENESS MONTH
During the month of August, people with a certain type of psoriasis have the chance to access free medicine through Avenue to Access, which was introduced in conjunction with the National Psoriasis Foundation’s awareness month.

The program is for individuals with mild-to-moderate stable plaque psoriasis access to a FREE prescription-size tube of ZITHRANOL-RR® (anthralin, 1.2%) rapid release microcrystalline encapsulated cream.

Those who are interested in receiving a free tube of Zithranol-RR will need to see their doctor first. “The dermatologist should always be the first stop in psoriasis therapy,” said Joel Bernstein, MD, a dermatologist and founder of Elorac, the pharmaceutical company offering the free psoriasis medicine.

Because psoriasis is a chronic disease, ongoing treatment can become very costly throughout a patient’s lifetime. According to a survey panel recently conducted by the National Psoriasis Foundation, approximately 44% of responders went without treatment for their psoriasis due to financial issues.

Psoriasis affects more than 7.5 million Americans and is a chronic disease that causes skin cells to grow at an accelerated rate. While psoriasis is not contagious, the stigma some feel can be debilitating.
